Impact Studies of Salt Drying Equipment Implementation by Applying Zeolite Technology as Inovative, Cheap, and Fast Salt Production Technology

Abstract- , Indonesia as an archipelagic country with a long coast beaches reached 81,000 km and an area of the second largest beach in the world. Official data says that the ratio of the national salt needs with national production results was not comparable. Nationally needs salt reached 3,251,691 tons. While the national salt production only 1,113,118 tons. Indonesia had to import salt to meet the shortfall amounting to 2.6152 million tons. The impact was local salt prices slumped and local salt compete with imported salt because of the quality of imported salt that had used advanced technology was much better than the salt production in the country which only drying. As productivity must be improve, times were considered to be shorten. By limitation of funding, the design of equipment must considered low capital expenditure. Zeolite known as absorbent. Zeolite have the ability to absorb polar substances such as H2O. In salt production zeolite can be used to faster the production. By applying Salt Drying Equipment which used zeolite can make salt production become faster and cheaper. As the impact of implementation, this technology achieving salt demand faster than conventional technology by 3 times.
